Embrace Your Now
People yearn for a peaceful, stress-free existence. However, experiencing inner peace does not mean having to slow down or eliminate our continuous interactions with others. Instead, we approach these moments with the certain knowledge that peace is what we are capable of experiencing as we embrace and savor each moment of our lives.
We will not arrive at a state of inner peace by merely changing our behavior. In order to establish a sense of balance in our lives, we must first change how we think and how we use our mental energy. This is a very important pillar that can have a direct impact on the other six pillars of success. Without inner peace, it will be difficult to focus on activities that can lead us to success.
Minor incidents of frustration can tap into our mental resources and leave us feeling angry and unfocused. Do we really need to get upset over a slow driver or an unfavorable comment? You know the answer and are a better person than that. Take a deep breath, think of the great things in your life or the great opportunities that lie ahead of you. It will be easier to get past "frustrating moments" and things that bother us about our current state of being knowing that this person or thing is just an opportunity to transcend negativity. You encounter every problem with a clear peaceful state, thus making a rational decision and moving forward.
Major life events also can destroy a person's health, finances and self-esteem. Without diminishing the severity of the events we face, it happened and it can not be reversed. Others have gone through it and overcome. It is not what happens to us but how we react to what happens that makes us better. We will encounter problems, tragedies and unexpected life changes from time to time. You can either believe the world is out to get you or believe that life tests you. You must be tested to improve and move forward. You are strong and you are focused. You do have the ability in you to overcome. It's not what happened but what happens now that defines you.
The absence of inner peace results in stress and anxiety. As these manifest into physical form, many people turn to medication to treat stress-related symptoms. Whereas disease and physical pain are often associated with stress, we may or may not be able to control the things that cause us stress and physical pain. However, we can respond with confidence to those external factors by practicing to eliminate our negative thoughts. Inner peace creates balance. It teaches us the benefits of not judging others and calms our turbulent thoughts. It clears our clouded minds and opens gaps for us to plant good thoughts of happiness and success, which ultimately manifest into reality. Inner peace increases our energy for better health and fitness. It allows us to focus on our goals and ideals and awakens in us a child-like state of innocence. If you are moving towards your goals you will be able to feel positive about your future and able to overcome challenges in life, even if you are not currently where you want to be.
