Hearing Whispers Versus Feeling Knocks
We’ve heard about the 3 step process where the universe comes up and taps you on the shoulder and you think “oh, what was that?” and then the next time you feel your shoulder being pushed and say to yourself “OH, ouch! Really? Come on!” And the third time you really pushed yet right onto your back. A wake up call like no other. This can look and feel like different scenarios. But basically, you are lying horizontal and exhausted; perhaps you threw your back out, had a minor accident. Whatever it is, something has you laying still. And the Universe has your full attention.
And what I came to notice while on a beautiful retreat recently, is that it’s really about those moments before we get the little taps and pushes and huge shoves. If you create the space, you will begin to notice that there a little whispers that are happening all day long.
I have a dear friend who makes ‘matches’ of the whispers. If she hears a word twice it’s a match. If she sees a big fish on a neon sign, and then someone says “I’m having fish for dinner and I’m so excited!” she calls that a match. I’m always looking for these matches. It’s what keeps us in the resonance field of gratitude, or of optimism, moving into hope and trust, and upward motion towards happiness and then freedom, individuality and Love! This is juicy frequency to live from.
Even if you don’t look for the matches, you can begin to notice magical things in your day; maybe it’s the sunlight making a pattern on your leg, or the way a bird’s wings move as it flies by, or the sound in the trees when the wind breezes through or even just the beauty of the well designed car. These are the little whispers and we let them go by like they don’t even have any importance in our life.
Yet if we follow these little whispers we will get the messages of the universe and from the Divine on a much more loving level. Versus getting the knocks! It is similar to when your Mum or Dad would come in to your room to wake you up for school. They’d say it gently at first. Then the second time they come and be a little more forceful. Then the third time, they would say “Wake up! Time for school!” and you’d sit up and say “Hey, you don’t have to yell at me!”
So if we set the alarm to wake up a little earlier, breathe first, perhaps meditate and set our daily intention, before our mind has us running to our “to do list” or where we just ‘hit the ground running,’ we may start to notice what’s going on around us. From that space, we can very well see and hear the whispers and it can put us in the flow of a higher resonance. And in that higher resonance there’s one of the juiciest places to create magic and manifest our heart’s desires.
