Gravity Boost Anyone?
One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist or an aeronautical engineer to imagine how much fuel and energy it takes in order to launch a spaceship. All the planning, focus, attention to detail and major fuel thrust for one basic purpose… to simply break free of earth’s gravity.
During a self-improvement workshop the other night a few basic questions were posed to each individual. Listening to the various rationales as to why no one had attained certain goals yet I couldn’t help but feel that each sounds as if he/she is stuck in a rut. It is as if each person is in a holding pattern, wanting and waiting to attain greater heights professionally or personally, but something is impeding progress. It is as if each person is simply caught in a gravitational pull, orbiting around all that is familiar… home, the workplace, favorite haunts, creating very deep ruts and getting nowhere. Of course the longer a person remains in that all too comfortable, but very deep rut, much more effort is required to break free.
Take a look at the obvious. Well of course, a “Gravity Boost” is required! In order to break free of the gravitational pull one has to create a personal “launch” program, seriously make plans to maximize the “boost” potential and then begin getting into “shape,” physically, mentally, and emotionally. Ask any astronaut how rigorous the pre-launch training is. Here are some practical suggestions to help create a “gravity boost” program.
PHASE ONE: Update your computer system (meaning the body/brain electrical) with new “software.”
Consider all those deeply etched electrical currents jumping from one synapse to another repeatedly over and over again. How does one go about creating new “electrical synapses” or “installing new software?”
1.Change as many routine habits as possible. Train yourself to be ambidextrous. Move your furniture about to force different traffic patterns. Play mind expanding video games such as Tetris to develop faster eye-mind coordination as a daily exercise, making sure to limit the time. Learn a new language. Indulge playing with Sudoku, crossword puzzles; jig saw puzzles, or anything that challenges short term problem solving skills. Listen to more classical music which has been scientifically proven to raise the human IQ. Choose reading material that challenges your belief systems and normal levels of comprehension, meaning anything nonfiction.
2.Turn off the television and limit your exposure to as much electromagnetic frequency (EMF) as possible. It has been suggested that compulsive video game playing and cell phone usage contributes to causing epileptic seizures and who knows what else. Another example of too much EMF exposure is where a successful experiment was conducted in Florida. Magnets were attached to alligators, in order to disorient and prevent them from returning to their native haunts when land developers were trying to relocate them to another part of the state; proving how our natural electrical biology absolutely responds negatively to too much EMF or gravitational pulling by causing levels of confusion and upsetting natural bio-rhythms.
3.Balance your right and left brain hemispheres. Learn to play a musical instrument, take up ballroom dancing, or writing poetry are a few suggestions for “brain balancing” exercises; which entail visualizing, memorization and being technical simultaneously. And by the way, it is not necessary to become super proficient at learning new skills, but to simply use them as exercises for increased development potential. Also, consider that it isn’t necessary to spend a great deal of money. Any child who is taking music lessons will be happy to earn a few extra dollars to teach an adult… imagine what that would do for the child’s confidence and self-esteem.
PHASE TWO: It goes without saying that one cannot separate the interdependency between physical well-being and mental well-being. Focus, discipline and motivation are required for each, so keep in mind that each and every activity supports both, not to mention that attitude is everything.
1.Become more physically active. Walk briskly up the stairs or the escalators or for that matter in general. Park in the furthest corner of the parking lot. Get up from your desk every half hour to stretch and flex, remembering to inhale deeply and exhale slowly. Buy a rebounder and know that NASA has declared rebounding exercise to be the “most efficient exercise known to man.” It is the only exercise that gets circulation all the way up to the brain cells.
2.Learn to breathe properly. Consider taking a class in any form of yoga, Tai Chi, or martial arts, which teaches proper breathing techniques with body locomotion as well as utilizing one’s “chi,” or main life force. It’s about refining movement and cooperating with one’s body to be as finely tuned and maintained a “machine” as possible.
3.Pay close attention to diet and maintaining a healthy metabolism. Consider doing some simple cleanses to flush out accumulated gunk and keep a regular eating schedule to keep your metabolism operating at maximum efficiency. Like any well designed machine, one’s body demands regular maintenance and proper upkeep. Keep in mind that one will go through regular withdrawal symptoms when attempting to get rid of any negative eating habits, such as a sugar or caffeine addiction, which will take approximately six weeks in general.
PHASE THREE: Emotions can be either a help or a hindrance, you choose.
1.Before you open your eyes each morning, conjure up an emotion that fills you with joy. Even if you have to return to a time from your long ago past. Embrace that moment and allow it to fill your entire being. Resolve to smile at yourself when you first look into the mirror and begin to count all your blessings.
Each time you successfully uplift your spirit with these simple practices, begin to consciously release as many old patterns as possible. For example, be aware of all your “hot buttons,” the ones that automatically create anger, fear and or anxiety. One absolutely needs to lighten his load before journeying into the new regions where one has not ventured before today.
2.Monitor your language, making sure to always speak in the present tense and using the most positive words possible. I suggest reading “Every Word Has Power,” by Yvonne Oswald, a hypnotherapist and neural linguistic programmer to fully understand how impactful language is… or refer to Masaru Emoto’s books on how positive words affect water molecules. Remove words such as if, when, maybe, but, etc. from all of your dialogues.
3. Institute new habits to keep your environments free of clutter wherever and however possible. Mental/emotional clarity and creativity depend upon visual tidiness and open spaces. Refer back to my article “A Feng Shui Approach to Food,” and be mindful of using each mealtime for breaking more minor/major habits.
4.Plan special outings where you can enjoy scenic vistas, the sights, sounds, smells of nature. Perhaps visit an art gallery or museum and allow your spirit to be touched by new perspectives and be reminded of what true beauty is.
5.Stop being judgmental! Much practice and constant awareness is required to stop being judgmental throughout each day. STOP judging others and especially yourself for any reason. Do not look at that homeless person and feel sorry for them, smile and offer a blessing to him. One cannot know what choices others make that require them to learn certain lessons in life, but one can always show respect.
Create an invisible, protective bubble to shield yourself from others’ judgments, complaints, criticisms, and “woe is me” stories. In fact, avoid these individuals as much as possible. Resolve to stop being an “enabler” by continuing to listen to and tolerate their negative energies.
6.Institute a “Good Karma” habit by seeing how many “brownie points” you can add up each day. How many people can you smile at even if they don’t smile back, allow them to cut in front of you in traffic, while waiting in lines, and or doing any little thoughtful behaviors reminding others that being nice or kind doesn’t require a great deal of effort.
Okay, so you have a choice. You can climb up the ladder rung by rung, or you can undertake a serious “launch program.” Obviously the faster you create a greater number of new habits, the better results you can expect.
There are no acceptable excuses for not beginning your Better Self program immediately. If you cannot or will not invest time and effort in yourself, who will?
